Theresa Ward, “Always Quilts”

Theresa is an award winning quilter, pattern designer, author and longarm quilter.  She made her first quilt in 1988 and never looked back.  After years of making quilts and hand quilting them, in 1999 she joined a guild and began her longarm quilting business  Theresa loves the creativity that quilting allows her, from designing quilt patterns to machine quilting designs on her customers’ quilts.  She is married with two grown children and lives outside of Leavenworth, KS. www.alwaysquilts.com

String quilts have been around a long time. Scraps of fabric are sewn onto a foundation. Theresa found a string quilt that was made with a newspaper foundation. The fabrics in the quilt dated back to the late 1800's. String quilts were stitched as a utility using little scraps of fabric made into a quilt to keep a person warm.
AUGUST 29, 2022 “Double Time”  will be from 1-4pm at Nebraska Quilt Company.  Cost $25.00 members  (Non-members $35.00) plus kit.  In this class you will partner with a new friend, an old friend, or on your own to make string blocks.  Then you will decide which quilt you would like to make.  The pattern makes both quilts.  If you don’t have a partner, you will make both quilts.

Jane Bromberg, Teacher, Designer, Lecturer,    “Photo Inspirations”
Jane is a quilt designer, teacher and lecturer who loves to teach and inspire other quilt enthusiasts to develop their own creativity.  Besides designing pieced quilt tops, she creates original designs using photos that she takes of whatever catches her eye.  She likes to make the edges of her quilts just as interesting as the tops by using unique bindings and edge finishes. She has had quilts in national AQS shows, Quiltcon, on the cover of Quilt Moderne magazine, and in traveling regional SAQA exhibits.

Jane’s trunk show features ideas and options for using your photos as designs for your quilts.

Lynn Doyle, “Bloomin’ Minds”

Bloomin' Minds is a pattern company that came to be in 2000.

Lynn grew up on a farm in NW Iowa and learned to sew from her Mother and through
4-H.  She majored in art in College and learned a lot about color use.  After Lynn got married, she worked in a number of fabric stores and quilt shops throughout the 80's and 90's.
Lynn and a friend decided to try their hand at designing applique patterns for sweat shirts so they started a small company. Trying to decide on a name and coming up with zilch, Lynn said we must be out of our blooming minds. It Stuck! We parted ways after a couple years.
The designs have changed in style and size following the changes in peoples' taste, but she remain focused on providing a product that is fast, easy and inexpensive.  Some say my designs are "kind of twisted" but I prefer the word "quirky".  Lynn says “After all, if I can amuse myself with a design and others are entertained by it, I'm blessed.”
